The hands behind the craft

In 1992, Manika Dhaubhadel started Nyatapola Crafts with a simple belief: that Bhaktapur's wood carving traditions deserved to live on, not just in temples and old courtyards, but in homes around the world. More than three decades later, she leads a workshop of over thirteen skilled artisans who hand carve every frame, window, and clock that leaves their hands, each piece carrying forward techniques passed down through generations.

In 2075 BS, her work was recognised with the Utkrishta Mahila Udhyami award from Nepal's Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, a tribute to her dedication to craft, culture, and the women who help keep this tradition alive. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Bagmati Province Handicraft Association.
